Vanilla Ice Cream

We did a very dangerous thing several years ago. We replaced our old-fashioned ice cream maker - you know, the one with the wooden bucket that you pack with ice and salt- with an ice cream maker that uses a freezable bowl. No ice or salt required. Just keep your bowl in the freezer and you can have ice cream at a moment’s notice.

And that’s what we do now. When the craving for ice cream hits, I make this super easy vanilla ice cream. No cooking required. Four ingredients. And then we have ice cream. Isn’t that dangerous?!

Easy Vanilla Ice Cream

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Cook Time: None

Yield: 5 servings

Ingredients

  • 2 cups heavy cream

  • 1 cup milk

  • 2/3 cup sugar

  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Mix together all ingredients in a large bowl.

  2. Place in refrigerator for 2 hours (or more).

  3. Churn in ice cream maker according to factory directions.

Recipe Notes:

If you absolutely have to churn the ice cream as soon as you mix it together, you can. The texture just seems to be better to me if it has time to sit for more of the sugar to dissolve.
